About the Artist
Colter Niendorf is an illustrator, graphic designer, and extreme metal musician. Graduating as a double major from Fort Lewis College with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Design and Marketing, his artwork has been featured in gallery exhibitions, product development, and in brand collaborations. After a brief period of professional development, he has returned to college to pursue an additional degree in Studio Art. He is expected to graduate in May, 2026.
Drawn to themes of the macabre and a growing fascination by life’s frailty and finitude, Colter’s artwork features themes of beauty in nature, mortality, and the relationship between the two. As a predominantly traditional artist, he tends to work with mediums such as ink, charcoal, graphite, acrylic paint, and watercolor. Additionally, he creates digitally by using programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Blender. When not producing two-dimensional work, he refines his auditory craft by fronting the black metal band, Vile Aesthetic, as the vocalist and guitarist. Colter Niendorf’s unique skillset provides a distinct advantage as an artisan and designer, resulting in work that is hauntingly memorable.
